Amanda is a passionate philanthropic leader with over 14 years of experience across the nonprofit sector and has raised more than $50 million to advance medical research, improve access to care initiatives, and support underserved patients. Her career has been shaped by a deeply personal understanding of the healthcare industrial complex - Amanda lives with multiple invisible/chronic illnesses. She was first diagnosed with a systemic autoimmune disease in 2012 and was declared legally blind in 2024. These experiences fuel her profound commitment to health equity, disability justice, and compassionate, patient-centered care.
Amanda began her development career in corporate giving as a Grant Coordinator at the Georgia Power Foundation. She then transitioned into frontline fundraising at Emory University, where she supported the Winship Cancer Institute in Annual Giving and later served as Director of Development for the School of Medicine. Her time at Emory taught her the importance of centering philanthropic work around the donor and patient voice. In 2019, she joined the American Cancer Society as Director of Philanthropy, securing major gifts to fund the Atlanta Hope Lodge renovation capital campaign. Amanda then served as Senior Consultant at Purpose Possible, working with small to midsize Southern nonprofits—such as Clarkston Community Health Center and the Georgia Innocence Project—shaping sustainable giving strategies. Amanda proudly joined New Disabled South in 2023 as the inaugural Director of Development and was promoted to Chief Development Officer in the fall of 2024.
Amanda holds a Master of Science in Leadership & Management and a Bachelor of Science in Management Communications from Southern Christian University. Her work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, supported, and empowered—especially those whose needs are too often overlooked.
Amanda grew up in the rolling hills of Alabama and now lives northwest of Atlanta with her husband, Robert, and their three boxers: Layla, Cash, and Dooley. Outside of work, she enjoys live music (especially country and Americana), watching golf and college football, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and is currently working on her first novel, based in Appalachian moonshine country.
